The author refers to the erudition expressed by Juan del Corral Calvo de la Torre, oidor of the Audiencia of Chile, in excerpts included in his Comentarios a las Leyes de Indias (=Comments to the Laws of the Indies). Allthough his book was written in the eigthteenth century, corresponds to the legal techniques of the previous century.
