Globalisation is driving the abandonment of the traditional Keynesian-Westphalian model, which recognised the state as an optimal entity for organising the public sphere and administering justice. It is therefore necessary to determine which model would be appropriate in the context of globalisation for Latin America to be able to participate on equal terms in discussions on distributive justice and recognition. Furthermore, it is crucial to consider how this new framework should be constructed and what rules should regulate it in order to guarantee equitable political representation. To that extent, this paper addresses three key problems related to the lack of equal political representation in Latin America in the context of globalisation. These problems are: (i) the deficit of political representation in the construction of the globalisation framework, (ii) the deficit of political representation and equitable enjoyment of freedoms and social rights, and (iii) the deficit of political representation caused by emigration. The three factors examined here impede the capacity of Latin American citizens to provide informed consent to the emerging decisions of globalisation, despite being directly affected by them. Upon completion of this investigation, a series of methodological proposals will be presented with the aim of addressing and potentially rectifying the aforementioned deficiencies in representation.La globalización está impulsando el abandono del tradicional modelo Keynesiano-Westfaliano, el cual admitía que el Estado era el ente idóneo para organizar lo público y administrar la justicia. Por ello, es necesario establecer qué modelo sería el apropiado en la era de la globalización para que América Latina pueda participar en condiciones de igualdad en las discusiones sobre justicia distributiva y de reconocimiento. Además, es crucial considerar cómo se debe construir este nuevo marco y qué reglas deben regularlo para garantizar una representación política equitativa. En esa medida, el presente trabajo aborda tres problemas clave relacionados con la falta de igualdad en la representación política de Latinoamérica en el contexto de la globalización. Estos problemas son: (i) el déficit de representación política en la construcción del marco de la globalización, (ii) el déficit de representación política y disfrute equitativo de libertades y derechos sociales y (iii) el déficit de representación política originado por la emigración. Los tres factores que se examinan obstaculizan la capacidad de los habitantes de América Latina para otorgar su consentimiento informado a las decisiones emergentes de la globalización, a pesar de ser directamente influenciados por estas. Al concluir la exploración de estos elementos, se presentarán propuestas metodológicas para abordar y potencialmente remediar estas deficiencias representativas.
