Description	The purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of law in the period of guano exploitation in Peru between 1840 and 1875. To that extent, the author points out that law had a social impact during the economic boom of guano by acting as a means to regulate the external commercialization of this natural fertilizer. In this way, national regulations legitimized internal domination by favoring the interests of a small dominant group whose economic and political power benefited from the subordination of the majority. In addition, the author explains how such subordination not only facilitated but also increased the exploitation of the less favored sectors. The article concludes by pointing out that instead of contributing to national development, the role played by the law at that time ended up having a negative impact on the country, since it only favored the exploitation of the central economy at the expense of the peripheral one, thus aggravating the existing inequalities.	en-US
Description	El presente trabajo pretende analizar el rol del derecho en el período de explotación del guano en el Perú entre 1840 y 1875. En esa medida, el autor señala que el derecho tuvo incidencia social durante el auge económico del guano al actuar como medio que regulaba la comercialización externa de este fertilizante natural. Es así que, la normativa nacional legitimó la dominación interna al favorecer los intereses un pequeño sector dominante cuyo poder económico y político se benefició de la subordinación de las mayorías. Además de ello, el autor explica cómo dicha subordinación no solo facilitó, sino que también incrementó la explotación de los sectores menos favorecidos. Por lo dicho, el artículo concluye señalando que en lugar de contribuir al desarrollo nacional, el rol que desempeño el derecho en aquella época terminó teniendo un impacto negativo para el país, pues solo favoreció la explotación de la economía central a costa de la periférica, agravando, de esta manera, las desigualdades existentes.	es-ES
