Resumen: Las Reglas de Rotterdam establecen una serie de modificaciones en el régimen jurídico del transporte que regulan, de mayor y menor calado pero que, indefectiblemente, producen unos efectos en el contrato de seguro marítimo:la ampliación del ámbito de responsabilidad por custodia de las mercancías representa una ventaja evidentepara el interés de los aseguradores de la carga. La revisión de las modificaciones es necesaria para comprender la influencia de las RR en el seguro marítimo vigente, y en el proyectado en el PLGNM. Ejemplo de ello es la regulación de la duración del periodo de cobertura en el seguro marítimo de mercancías.   Palabras clave: Reglas de Rotterdam, contrato de seguro marítimo de mercancías, duración de la cobertura, Proyecto de Ley General de Navegación Marítima. Abstract: The Rotterdam rules laid down a series of amendments in the legal regime of transportation which governwith greater or lesser significance but inevitably, create effects in the maritime insurance contract: the extension of the scope of liability for custody of goods represents a clear advantage in the interest of cargo insurers. The review of amendments is necessary to understand the influence of the RR in the existing maritime insurance, which is the subject of reform in the PLGNM.
